fishing minneapolis mn
Are there any good lakes for large mouth bass fishing within a couple hours of Minneapolis MN?

Idealy I’m looking for a big lake that isn’t super busy so the family and I can relax and fish.

Lake Tetonka in Waterville, MN, south of cities. 35 south to Hwy 60, Hwy 60 towards Mankato, get off in Waterville and just ask where the landing is. That is where the previous state record was caught. Have seen HUGE bass there spear fishing. No doubt that the record will come back out of Tetonka again someday. There is a lake outside of Faribault too, can’t remember the name that is pretty famous for bass. Lake has milfoil in it though so make sure and clean your boat good if you go there. Want to say that it is Cedar Lake. Both lakes are quiet for the most part. Tetonka is a nice lake, little green in the summer, but lots of structure and stuff to fish there. Lived in Waterville for 3 years, know the lake well. The lake has smallmouth too that you can catch on occasion. If you have youngens with, give em a pole and a worm and they can fish bluegill in the lake while you bass fish. Lots of nice bluegill in the lake too. Occasional walleye or two, nothing big unless you are from Iowa, then you would keep all the small walleye. Give Tetonka a try. If they aren’t biting there, go down the road a bit to Lake Frances in Elysian, MN. Small lake, caught lots of bass there ice fishing, scrub fish, ha ha ha, they interupt my crappie and sunny fishing in the winter. Have fun!
